Miguel Mateos Zas, 26 January 1954, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mateos first performed professionally from 1969, playing guitar, keyboards and singing, with Cristal, a band that also included his brother, Alejandro Mateos (drums), Omar Moretti (guitar), Jorge Infusino (bass). In 1979 the band became Zas, and under this name gained some prominence in the early 80s, playing as opening act for Queen in Buenos Aires. Other musicians who played in Zas in the earlier years were Eduardo Sanz (guitar) and Raúl Chevalier (bass), while later members included bass players Cachorro Lopez and Ariel Pozzo, guitarist Carlos Garcia and keyboard player Mario Maselli. They had some success with their early albums and had a hit single with ‘Va Por Vos, Para Vos’.
