Biography
26 November 1945, Evanston, Illinois, USA. Omartian is a veteran US rock and pop producer with a long list of credits including Rod Stewart, Amy Grant and Christopher Cross. Prior to making his mark as a producer, he had worked as a freelance session player and arranger in the 70s around the Midwest. His most notable contributions were to three of Steely Dans most successful albums, Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied and Aja. By 1978 he had joined Warner Brothers Records as an executive producer, where his work with Rod Stewart yielded the hits Some Guys Have All The Luck, Sailing and Infatuation. He also produced Christopher Cross hit, Ride Like The Wind. He continued to work as a session musician, for clients including Al Jarreau, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson and Rickie Lee Jones.
