Biography
19 May 1964, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. An eclectic tenor and soprano saxophonist, Blake has worked with many artists in jazz, rock and contemporary pop, including bass player Ben Allison, whom he met when he became a member of Allisons Jazz Composers Collective. The New York-based Blake has also played in Allisons Medicine Wheel. Among other musicians and groups with whom Blake has been associated are saxophonist John Luries Lounge Lizards, an association that helped bring Blake worldwide recognition, multi-instrumentalist Peck Almond, slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein, trumpeter Ron Horton, pianist Frank Kimbroughs Herbie Nichols Project, bass player Tim Luntzel, guitarist Tony Scherr, and drummers Matt Wilson and Kenny Wollesen, as well as with the Kate Fenner/Chris Brown Band and Tricky.
