Micah Paul Hinson, 30 March 1981, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The extraordinary early life of Hinson is both a fascinating story and the creative spur for his acclaimed songwriting. Raised in a strict Christian household, Hinson moved to Abilene, Texas with his family at the start of his teenage years. It was in Abilene that he became involved in the local music scene and met Vogue cover model Melissa Berggren, a rock widow who would first be his muse and then his downfall. Introduced to prescription drugs, Hinson’s life began to spiral out of control until, in spring 2000, he was caught forging prescriptions and sent to the county jail. After serving his time he was forced to declare himself bankrupt and scrape around for money and lodgings.
