Biography

Michelle Wallen, 27 April 1969, London, England. Having written, recorded, and produced with the aid of heavyweights including Nile Rodgers (Chic), Prince and Rakim (Eric B And Rakim), Paris has remained one of the UK’s biggest talents never to have made the great leap forward. It has not been for want of effort or ability, but producers have struggled to maximize the potential of one of the world’s most delightful soul-dance performers. Stronger material would certainly help. On her 1989 debut album, there were times when she hit a perfect beat, such as when she matches for dexterity the tenor sax of Courtney Pine on ‘Like Dreamers Do’. Her second album used new, hot producers as a remedy (Charles Mantronik of Mantronix, and Dancin’ Danny D of D-Mob); however, a sense of frustration still pervaded her career.
