As the drug-inhaling, Jack Daniels-guzzling glam-rock behemoth that was Mötley Crüe finally started to lose momentum in the late 90s, drummer Tommy Lee (Thomas Bass, 3 October 1962, Athens, Greece) left to form his own band. A notorious media figure over and above the enormous excesses of Mötley Crüe, Lee had come to infamy in the latter half of the decade owing to the sordid tale of his marriage to and subsequent divorce from the actress Pamela Anderson. That story had involved wife-beating, imprisonment, rehab and an ubiquitous home video depicting the couple’s most intimate moments. What better time, then, for Lee, now clean, single and supposedly rehabilitated, to launch his own project?
