Biography
Terry McBride (16 September 1958, Austin, Texas, USA; lead vocals, bass), Ray Herndon (b. 14 July 1960, Scottsdale, Arkansas, USA; guitar, vocals) and Billy Thomas (b. 24 October 1953, Fort Myers, Florida, USA; drums, vocals). MCA producer Tony Brown noticed that Alabama were losing their appeal and so he formed a new country group to take over the market. He experimented with McBride, Herndon and Thomas, liked what he heard and gave them a contract; within two months, they were making their first album. The title track of Sacred Ground is a neat twist on adultery, written by Kix Brooks of Brooks And Dunn and Vernon Rust. Herndon and Thomas left in 1993 and were replaced by Kenny Vaughn (guitar), Randy Frazier (bass) and Keith Edwards (drums); the band were then renamed Terry McBride And The Ride.
