Biography
2 November 1952, Wembley, London, England. Although Nightingale made her recording debut in 1968, early acclaim was garnered from a series of roles in the stage productions of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell. She resumed a solo career during the 70s, achieving an international hit with the compulsive Right Back Where We Started From. This infectious performance, featured heavily in Paul Newmans cult movie Slapshot, reached number 8 in the UK and number 2 in the USA, but although Love Hit Me also reached the UK Top 20, the singer was unable to sustain consistent success. Lead Me On, a flop at home, climbed to number 5 in the USA in 1979, but proved to be her last substantial release. However, Nightingale continued throughout the decades to tour and perform around the world.
