Ryan Christopher Webb, 7 November 1971, Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. During the late 90s and early years of the new millennium Ryan established himself as one of Americas finest new songwriters, continuing in the tradition of great storytellers from Woody Guthrie to Bruce Springsteen. Ryans working class upbringing in Pennsylvania informed his emergence as a performer on the local bar circuit, and he came to the attention of the major label A&M Records in the mid-90s. His 1997 debut May Day blended upbeat roots rock instrumentation with Ryans gritty vocals and sharply observed lyrics chronicling the everyday experiences of ordinary Americans. The follow-up East Autumn Grin employed a number of studio musicians to augment the sound, which often threatened to overshadow another impressive set of self-written material.
