29 December 1959, Ario De Rosales, Michoacán, Mexico. Singer-songwriter, musician and producer Marco Antonio Solís is one of the most important figures in Mexican music. He has sold millions of records, as a solo artist and with his former group Los Bukis, and received numerous awards in the Latin genre.

Solís and his cousin Joel began making music in their early teens, a partnership which ultimately led to the formation of Los Bukis at the start of the 70s. The group, whose name roughly translates as ‘kids’, spent several years honing their act before going on to become one of the most successful Latin pop acts of all time in the following decade. Solís was the leader throughout, writing and producing the majority of the group’s albums, and receiving numerous Latin music awards.
