Orlando Valle, September 1966, Havana, Cuba. Coming from a family of musicians, Valle studied the flute at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory from the age of 10. He began touring with the Bobby Carcasses Orchestra in 1987, and also became a member of Emiliano Salvadors Nueva Vision. The following year Valle joined the legendary Cuban group Irakere, as flautist, pianist, composer and arranger. Following six years of international touring with the band he left to pursue a solo career. He won the Egrem National Prize for Best Latin Jazz Record with Formula Uno, his 1995 solo debut. The following year saw the formation of his band Otra Vision with whom he has since toured internationally and released a string of albums. Valle is an in-demand musician who has played on numerous sessions with artists including, Cubanismo, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Cesaria Evora and Orlando Poleo.
