Decades: 1980s 2000s

Based in Birmingham, England, this 60s-influenced pop outfit reached number 7 in the UK chart in 1983 with ‘Heartache Avenue’ a particularly memorable song with strong influences of 60s soul music. The band was formed by Lol Mason (vocals), Elaine Williams (vocals), Denise Ward (vocals), Mark Tibbenham (keyboards), and Nick Parry (drums). Mason, the driving force behind the band, was no stranger to chart success, having previously been the singer with City Boy. Two follow-up singles, ‘Where I Stand’ and ‘Say It Again’, and an album, all for the Birmingham independent label Ready Steady Go!, flopped, and the band broke up.
