Biography
6 August 1953, Mobile, Alabama, USA. Having trained her voice in church, when White took a part-time job at bluesman Big Ike Darbys record store, she sang along with the records as they played. She had become store manager before her boss realized her ability. Already aware of her brother Larry Saunders ability as a soul singer, Darby nurtured her talent, releasing an album and a number of singles, including Blues In My Bedroom and her answer to B.B. Kings hit, I Didnt Make My Move Too Soon, on his Darby and Sho Me labels. Her 1982 single, I Dont Ever Wanna See Your Face Again, was picked up for national distribution by Willie Mitchells Waylo label. Mitchell acquired her contract and re-recorded Blues In My Bedroom.
