Biography
Singer/guitarist Dean Wareham (1 August 1963, New Zealand), a graduate of Harvard University, left his previous band, Galaxie 500, in 1991. Luna effectively became his solo venture, with contributions from former members of the Feelies (drummer Stanley Demeski) and the Chills (bass player Justin Harwood), with guitarist Sean Eden joining after the release of their debut album. Released by Elektra Records in 1992, Lunapark (credited to Luna 2 due to a solo musician already using the Luna title) revisited Warehams famously brittle songwriting, but added more rhythmic propulsion to the material, particularly on Slide. The same track also headed Lunas 1993 EP (Edens first outing with the band), which included several cover versions alluding to Warehams more obvious influences (notably a version of the Dream Syndicates Thats What You Always Say).
