Louise Rhodes, England. Singer-songwriter Rhodes is better known as one half of UK electronica outfit Lamb, with whom she released a series of compelling albums between 1996 and 2003. With Lamb on an indefinite hiatus following a final show at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in September 2004, Rhodes embarked on a long-planned solo recording project. Still nursing the wounds from the end of a long-term relationship, she decamped with her children to the Ridge Farm commune in Surrey and began writing songs informed by her own upbringing with folk-singing parents. Beloved One was a gorgeous album that eschewed the drum n bass and jungle direction of her work with Lamb in favour of acoustic guitars and unobtrusive percussion and string backing.
