Biography
One of the first Christian bands to make a mark on the US heavy metal scene, Living Sacrifice was formed in 1989 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by Darren Johnson (bass/vocals), Bruce Fitzhugh (guitar), Lance Garvin (drums), and Jason Truby (guitar). The quartets thrash-influenced debut was released in 1991 on the R.E.X. Records label, and received favourable comparisons to albums by more mainstream, secular artists. The quickly recorded follow-up, Nonexistent, was a misguided attempt at death metal, with Johnsons vocals coming in for particular criticism. A return to a more traditional thrash sound on 1994s Inhabit was a welcome move, but following this release Johnson left the band. Fitzhugh took over on vocals and Jason Trubys brother Chris Truby was recruited as the new bass player.
