6 June 1973, Surrey, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. On stage as a singer from the age of seven, Brokop worked with her mother who played accordion. By her early teens, she was singing and playing guitar as a solo act and made her recording debut in 1991. Also in the early 90s, she took a leading role in the movie Harmony Cats. In this film she played a country singer who heads for Nashville and hoped-for fame. Taking her cue from the fiction, Brokop did exactly that and soon after arriving in Nashville she signed with Capitol Records Nashville subsidiary. She released two albums in 1994/5, each of which had successful singles thereon: Give Me A Ring Sometime, Take That, Before He Kissed Me and She Cant Save Him. This seemingly enviable and remarkably swift success came to an abrupt halt soon after the release of the second album. Brokop quit Nashville and her contract and it was three years before...
