Biography
10 February 1960, Gallipolis, Ohio, USA. Raised in West Virginia, Cartwright has been performing country music since he was a child. He became a pianist for the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia, and graduated to a position as the shows musical director. He moved to Nashville in 1982 and recorded demos for the songwriters Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. He joined the cast of the musical situation comedy 1-40 Paradise, becoming a veteran of over 500 episodes. Success in a television soap often leads to a recording contract, and soon he was on the US country charts with Youre Gonna Make Her Mine and then Give Me His Last Chance in 1988. His only number 1 country single was with Leap Of Faith in 1991. Cartwright is proficient on guitar, mandolin and keyboards and has written most of the songs he has recorded.
