6 February 1961, Brainerd, Minnesota, USA. Judging from her recording output, vocalist Eder is equally at home singing contemporary standards as she is tackling musical theatre. She was introduced to both classical and popular music at an early age, by her parents who were both singers, but it was not until high school that Eder discovered the singer that would inspire her vocally the most, Barbra Streisand. Eder soon began developing her own style, self-described as Broadway and popular style singing with classical influences. Not long after her high school graduation, she began to hone her singing talent at local nightclubs, which led to a spot on the popular US television show Star Search, where Eder took the top spot and beat out the competition for a staggering 12 weeks.
