Originating from Atlanta, Georgia, US party rap trio Lil Jon And The East Side Boyz became mainstays in the mainstream charts during the early years of the twenty-first century, both as a solo act and more frequently as guests on other artists recordings. The crews main man is Lil Jon (Jonathan Smith, 1971, Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA), a club DJ who initially made his name on the Atlanta-based club scene in the early 90s. He attracted the attention of record company boss and producer Jermaine Dupri, who hired the DJ as executive VP of A&R at Dupris So So Def Recordings. During this period, Lil Jon also worked as a producer and radio presenter and set up his own recording unit, Lil Jon And The East Side Boyz.
