Biography
26 August 1971, Jackson, Mississippi, USA. Urged on by his musician father, Thompson played guitar from a very early age and by the time he was in his early teens he was playing semi-professionally on the blues club circuit. He worked in his home state, mainly around Greenville where he was raised. Through the late 80s he developed his playing style, which is an often-raucous outpouring of instrumental and vocal energy. Among musicians with whom Thompson has worked are Booba Barnes And The Playboys and David Malone, notably appearing on the latters 1994 recording I Got The Dog In Me. Thompsons own-name debut for Fat Possum Records from the following year met with variable reviews, and it might well be that his aggressive style fares less well on record than it does live where audiences are more likely to be carried along with the artists dynamic stage presence.
