Biography

c.20s, Illinois, USA. Dee was an organist who achieved one Top 20 single in 1955 and four charting albums during his career. He was raised in Florida, learning to play piano at the age of seven. Dee later took up the banjo and accordion. He studied music in Chicago and subsequently began performing his unique organ style, which reportedly demonstrated his ability to match perfectly the sound of a wide range of other instruments. Following a Nashville performance, Dee was approached by country star Red Foley, who introduced him to Decca, where he remained until the 70s. His first single for the label was "Plantation Boogie", which reached number 19 in the US charts. Four albums also charted for Dee, including his first, Dee-lightful!, which narrowly missed the US Top 10.
