Lene Marlin Pedersen, 17 August 1980, Tromsø, Norway. The deceptively simple pop charms of Sitting Down Here provided this talented Norwegian singer-songwriter with her international breakthrough. Marlin first started writing her own material at the age of 15 when her parents bought her a guitar for Christmas. A demo session at the local branch of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation was arranged by her friends, and when a cassette found its way to the director of Virgin Records Norway a multi-album contract was not long in following. Her debut single, Unforgivable Sinner, was released in autumn 1998, and enjoyed both critical and commercial success in her native country. Playing My Game was released the following March while Marlin was still completing high school. The album became a huge success in Norway, quickly reaching platinum status.
