Biography

Fronted by the charismatic Becky Stark (Kensington, Maryland, USA; vocals) this psych-folk ensemble took influence from the classic Laurel Canyon sound of Judee Sill and Joni Mitchell. Named after a role played by Stark in Birdsongs Of The Bauharoque, an operetta written by puppeteer and projectionist Xander Marro, Lavender Diamond grew into a four-piece band following her move from Providence, Rhode Island to Los Angeles, California. The first album under the Lavender Diamond moniker was 2003’s self-released Artifacts Of The Winged, and this was essentially a Stark solo disc that contained songs from Marro’s play.
