Biography
Lari Michele White, 13 May 1965, Dunedin, Florida, USA. This country singer-songwriter was raised in Dunedin and began singing as a child, performing alongside her parents and brother in the family gospel group. A proficient piano player by her teens, she studied vocals and music engineering at the University of Miami and continued singing in local clubs. After graduating from college, White moved to Nashville in an attempt to break into the lucrative country market, although initially she found work on the stage. Her ambition was rewarded in 1988 when she won first prize on the Nashville Networks You Can Be A Star! talent show. She subsequently signed a recording contract with Capitol Records but a number of single releases for the label failed to establish White as a major player, and she returned to the club circuit.
