Biography
A side-project for Dead Kennedys and Alternative Tentacles label chief Jello Biafra (Eric Boucher, 17 June 1958, Denver, Colorado, USA; vocals), Ministrys Al Jourgensen (b. 7 October 1958, Havana, Cuba; guitar) and Paul Barker (b. 8 February 1958, Palo Alto, California, USA; bass), plus sometime Revolting Cocks drummer Jeff Ward, the sporadically active Lard produce hardcore industrial rock with the occasional excursion into thrash metal. The combination of the band-members insane sense of humour, plus Biafras paranoid lyrics exploring political themes, makes for a jaw-dropping listen and has been welcomed both by fans of punk and extreme metal. After recording an EP in 1988 and calling it The Power Of Lard, Lard released The Last Temptation Of Reid in 1990. However, before they could build on this, Ward ? struggling with heroin addiction ? committed suicide and the band was put on hold. They did not return until 1997, with Pure Chewing...
