Biography
UK synth-pop band formed in 1998 by Daniel Hunt (keyboards/rhythm box), Reuben Wu (keyboards/rhythm box), Mira Aroyo (1977, Sofia, Bulgaria; vocals/keyboards) and Helena Marnie (vocals/keyboards). Ladytron, who take their name from a Roxy Music track, pay homage to a number of retro styles in their music, including electro, new wave and Krautrock, without ever sounding kitsch or overly arch. The quartets debut single, He Took Her To A Movie, was released on the Invicta Hi-Fi label and received several Single Of The Week reviews in the UK press. The Commodore Rock EP followed in summer 2000, initially available only on the French Tricatel label. The long-playing 604 was released in April 2001. The pop sensibility evident in tracks such as Discotraxx and The Way That I Found You helped elevate Ladytron above a raft of similar bands on the new new wave and electro-clash scenes.
