19 May 1968, Santa Monica, California, USA. Raised in a home environment where jazz records were often played, he regularly accompanied his actor-director father, Clint Eastwood, to jazz concerts and also the Monterey Jazz Festival. As a child, Kyle Eastwood played guitar for fun but in his late teens began seriously playing the electric bass. This led to formal tuition with French bass player Bunny Brunel and after a brief flirtation with thoughts of a career in movies, he formed his own jazz group, West Quintet. Eastwood developed his technique on electric and acoustic instruments and was soon earning his living playing in studio bands for movies and also backing pop singers.
