Biography
This Seattle, Washington, USA-based instrumental unit was formed in 1998 by Chris Martin (guitar), Lucy Atkinson (bass) and Dave Weeks (drums). The bands debut, SpaceLaunch For Frenchie, was self-released the following year. The trios brutal fusion of psychedelia and noise-rock earned them immediate comparisons to fellow countrymen Sonic Youth and Bardo Pond and, further afield, Scotlands Mogwai and Japans Acid Mothers Temple. In early 2000, Kinski expanded their line-up with the addition of guitarist Matthew Reid-Schwartz. The following years Be Gentle With The Warm Turtle on Pacifico Records saw the band adding an extra dimension to their sound. They toured heavily to promote the album, working with the like-minded Hovercraft and the aforementioned Acid Mothers Temple.
