Biography
One of the more arresting crop of late 80s/early 90s underground bands drawn from New York, USA, the various line-up of King Missile have revolved around by vocalist and spoken word/poetry maverick John S. Hall. His early albums (credited to King Missile (Dog Fly Religion)) for Kramers Shimmy-Disc label were expanded in sound by the latters auxiliary musicianship and production, as well as the efforts of guitarist Dogbowl (Stephen Tunney, USA). When the latter left, he took the parenthesized portion of the name with him, though Halls instinct for black humour and caustic commentary remained. Dogbowl would go on to his own erratic solo career, while King Missiles 1990 release Mystical Shit saw Hall joined by regular drummer Steve Dansiger, Bongwater guitarist Dave Rick and multi-instrumentalist Chris Xefos (from When People Were Shorter And Lived Near The Water).
