Biography
Formed in 1989 in Louisville, Kentucky, this US indie rock band has been through numerous line-up changes in its lengthy career, but has been led from the outset by former Squirrel Bait and Slint member Ethan Buckler (guitar/vocals). His work with King Kong has eschewed the post-rock complexities of his former bands, delving instead into rootsier and funkier pastures. Bucklers longest serving collaborators have been Willy MacLean (bass) and Ray Rizzo (drums), with other personnel passing through the ranks including Darren Rappa (bass), Rich Schuler (drums), Amy Greenwood (Amy George; vocals), Britt Walford (keyboards), Todd Hildreth (keyboards), Neil Michael Hagerty (keyboards, guitar), Peter Townsend (percussion), and Amy Partin Richie (vocals).
