Biography

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA-based R&B vocal duo comprising Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon. The duo made their recording debut in 2003 after five years of marriage, and having established themselves on the burgeoning Philadelphia-based neo-soul scene with a series of gigs at the Black Lily showcase. Surrender To Love drew rich praise from a music press who saw in their 70s-inspired grooves a revival of the musical legacy of two other husband and wife recording acts, Ashford And Simpson and Womack And Womack. Dantzler’s plaintive tenor complemented Dantzler’s rich alto on a set of resolutely grown-up songs celebrating the strength of their relationship, although the album’s interior artwork was not above gently poking fun at the mundanities of cohabitation. The duo’s 10-piece backing band was of equal note, fashioning slick instrumental tracks from a wide range of sources, including R&B, funk, jazz, and Latin music.
