Biography
3 January 1978, Hartsville, Tennessee, USA. This US vocalists career was launched following her participation in the second series of the reality television contest American Idol. Raised in Tennessee, she began singing at church and continued performing in vocal groups throughout high school. After graduating from Belmont University in Nashville, she worked as an administrative assistant in the city. Her early dreams of a singing career were revived in 2003 when she appeared on American Idol. Lockes smooth, R&B-inflected pop vocals took her to the final of the show, where she finished behind Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. Despite only finishing third, Locke was rewarded with a recording contract with Curb Records. Her debut album One Love, released several months after the American Idol final, spawned several successful singles and performed well on the Adult Contemporary charts.
