Biography
6 January 1951, Detroit, Michigan, USA. Wilson is a member of the blues band the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Tigerman, his first solo album, predominantly comprised cover versions, performed by various combinations of ex-and current Thunderbirds, including Duke Robillard, Preston Hubbard, Fran Christina, Gene Taylor and Rusty Zinn, and also Derek OBrien, Calvin Jones and George Rains. For much of the time, Wilson forsook his harmonica and chose to interpret songs by Johnny Guitar Watson, T-Bone Walker and Bobby Bland. Thats Life was a similarly disparate collection, containing tracks left over from the original sessions and newer recordings, including soul songs, Time Is On My Side and Ive Been Searchin. During this time, the Thunderbirds remained without a recording contract, leaving a question mark over Wilsons future as a solo artist or a band leader.
