Biography
Instantly acclaimed as the revelation at the 1993 Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France, Irish folk ensemble Kíla was formed six years previously by Colm Mac Con Iomaire (fiddle), Rónán Ó Snodaigh (vocals, bodhrán, percussion), Rossa Ó Snodaigh (whistles, bodhrán, bones, guitar, percussion), Eoin Dillon (uillean pipes, whistles, percussion, vocals), Karl Oldum (bass) and Dave Odlum (guitar), with Colm Ó Snodaigh (flute, whistles, vocals) joining in 1988. Kíla was started as a school band as a result of being offered the chance to play a youth music festival in Germany. From then on the members elected to stay together, making their recording debut on Iomaires Gaelic language solo debut in 1990.
