Biography
1983, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, England. Singer-songwriter Walsh grew up in the Essex riverside town of Burnham-on-Crouch, where her early musical influences were the classical pianists she listened to as she learned the instrument. Her musical interests diversified in her teens and she was soon proficient on acoustic guitar. She was offered a place at the London College of Music and Media, but chose to pursue a music career instead when her demo material piqued the interest of the independent label Kitchenware Records. Her 2003 debut, Clocktower Park, named after a meeting place in her home-town, revealed a nascent talent although the musical backing of acoustic guitar and strings wore thin over the course of a whole album. The album failed to tap into the vogue for acoustic singer-songwriters and Walsh was subsequently dropped by Kitchenware.
