Biography
15 August 1949, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Taylor was raised in North Carolina as one of a talented number of siblings, including singer-songwriter brothers Alex, Hugh, and more famously Livingston Taylor and James Taylor. Well versed in folk, pop and soul, she formed her own band in her early teens, and signed her first recording contract with Atlantic Records at the age of 19. She worked with producer Peter Asher on her well-received 1970 debut, Sister Kate, but did not record again until the late 70s, when she worked with her brother James and Barry Beckett on two studio albums for Columbia Records. She also contributed to the Grammy award winning childrens album, In Harmony ? A Sesame St. Record. Another long absence from the recording scene ensued, during which Taylor focused her attention and energy on raising her young children with her songwriter husband Charlie Witham.
