Biography
27 December 1951, Santa Monica, California, USA. Bonoff already had some success writing songs for other people long before launching a solo career in the late 70s, and she worked with Andrew Gold, Wendy Waldman and Kenny Edward in the songwriter supergroup Bryndle. Her introspective, folksy material had graced records by Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Nicolette Larson, and it was the first of those artists with whom she was frequently compared following the release of her debut in 1977, which contained two songs already recorded by Ronstadt. However, Bonoffs sweeter approach did not equal Ronstadts strength of delivery, despite being backed by an impressive cast of Californian rock-pop personnel. She went on to have her biggest hit in 1982 with the US Top 20 single Personally.
