Biography
30 January 1958, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Singing and playing guitar from early childhood, Carroll was performing before entering her teenage years. As a young teenager, she played guitar in a band led by her mother, blues singer Jeanne Carroll. Before she was out of her teens Carroll was working as a solo act, singing and playing a vibrant form of contemporary blues that retained strong references to the musics origins. In the 80s she recorded with multi-instrumentalist Carey Bell and guitarist Professor Eddie Lusk but it was not until the mid-90s that she made her very successful own-name recording debut. As both a solo act and with her band, the Alligators Of Swing, Carroll has appeared at blues festivals and clubs throughout North America and since 1990 has also appeared overseas, performing in Europe and Scandinavia.
