Biography
Formed in Sacramento, California, USA at the height of the summer of love in 1967, Kak comprised Dehner C. Patten (guitar/vocals), Gary Yoder (vocals/guitar), Joseph Damrell (bass/guitar/sitar/tambourine) and Christopher Lockhead (drums/keyboards/bass/vocals). The bands sole album, although commercially unsuccessful, has since become a prized collectors item, showcasing classic West Coast melodies and exciting, but never indulgent, guitar work. Much of the music was derivative with some interesting comparisons. Two of the strongest tracks, Everythings Changing and Disbelievin, showed a big Moby Grape influence, while the gentle Flowing By prompted the listener to check the album sleeve to check that it was not Donovan singing.
