Biography

Jump ’N The Saddle Band had one good idea for a novelty song, recorded it in 1983, took it to the US Top 20 and were never heard from again. Their idea was to record a tribute to Jerome ‘Curly’ Howard, a long-deceased member of the US comedy troupe the Three Stooges. Mimicking the nonsensical phrases uttered by the comedian in the Stooges’ films, and a shuffle-like dance that often accompanied them, the band’s vocalist, Peter Quinn, wrote ‘The Curly Shuffle’ and found a way to immortality. Jump ‘N The Saddle Band was a sextet comprising Quinn, guitarists T.C. Furlong and Barney Schwartz, saxophonist Tom Trinka, bass player Rick Gorley and drummer Vince Dee. They evolved from a Chicago, Illinois, USA-based band called Rio Grande that existed during the mid-70s.
