Biography
1967, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Lee heard music constantly while growing up but first became interested in the visual arts. Her studies brought her an arts degree and she became a sculptor. Meanwhile, she had been writing songs and performed with a folk trio, the Rest. In the mid-90s, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she practiced both her crafts. She also became deeply involved in the local Presbyterian church, gradually incorporating aspects of her Christian belief into her songwriting. Meanwhile, she continued with her work as a sculptor, in particular building art objects from societys detritus. Lees songs follow the storytelling tradition of early American folk music coloured by her religious beliefs. She made her own early albums at her church and they blended folk and bluegrass with gospel.
