Biography
This Scottish folk rock act was one of genres leading attractions during the early 70s. Having made their debut with the low-key Country Of The Blind, the band, - Des Coffield (guitar/keyboards/vocals), Sean ORouke (guitar), Chuck Fleming (violin), Jim Divers (bass) and Colin Finn (drums) - then opted for a more expressive style, echoing that of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span, but based on Flemings showmanship and dexterity. 1972s JSD Band encapsulated the quintets live fire and remains their most popular release, whereas Travelling Days was viewed as a disappointment. The loss of several members, including Fleming, proved fatal and although Iain Lyon, formerly of My Dear Watson, bolstered a unit latterly known as the New JSD Band, the unit split up in 1974 only to reappear in 1995.
