27 February 1944, Alameda, California, USA. While studying journalism at West Virginia University, Breach began singing with the Joe Belcastro Trio. After graduation she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she began her professional career as a singer. She continued to sing there for 25 years with occasional forays into recording studios, which gradually increased awareness of her exceptional talent. In February 1996 she capitalized on this growing appreciation of her work by moving to New York, appearing at clubs, hotels and other venues. She has sung with Loonis McGlohon, the highly gifted pianist-accompanist to many singers, William Roy, Richard Rodney Bennett and Ronny Whyte. Breach’s highly melodic voice is particularly suited to ballads and her acute awareness of lyrics makes her one of the best latter-day interpreters of popular song.
