Biography
London, England. Hopkins was a musical prodigy, showing his talent from the age of five when he learned to play the piano. By 12 he had gained a scholarship for Londons Royal College of Music. Hopkins interest in electronic keyboards and the electronica genre took him into experimental grounds during his studies. After leaving the Royal College of Music, he then immersed himself in a home studio to develop soundscapes, creating, a new Balearic or chill-out sound. His music had caught the ears of the proprietors at Just Music in London, a label known as a purveyor of top quality electronica. In 2001 Hopkins released his debut, Opalescent, to rapturous reviews. The album encapsulated the sun-kissed beats that started in Ibiza in the mid-80s, and throughout cast an ethereal glow that propelled the listener to another headspace.
