Biography
8 May 1964, Dearborn, Michigan, USA. Kellso was born into a musical family, his father playing trumpet, his mother piano and violin. After deciding to take up the trumpet, he began listening to the familys record collection, which included items by Harry James and other swing era artists. Together with a childhood friend, bass player Mike Karoub, whose father was also a musician, Kellso continued listening to records, learning to play his instrument, and even forming bands, all this before he was 12 years old. During the next couple of years he continued with his studies, informal and formal and also played in high school bands and, through Karoubs father, with the International Youth Symphony Orchestra.
