18 November 1954, Nottingham, England. This UK vocalist, guitarist, composer and producer specialized in highly melodic AOR. He enjoyed a brief period of transatlantic success in the mid-80s, with his recordings for Atlantic Records compared to Rick Springfield and Eddie Money. Parr broke into the US Top 30 at the end of 1984 with ‘Naughty Naughty’, following which he composed the themes for the movies American Anthem andSt. Elmo’s Fire. The second of these singles topped the US chart and made the UK Top 10 in summer 1985. Parr also duetted with Meat Loaf on ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Mercenaries’, but this failed to embellish either artist’s profile, stopping just short of the Top 30. Two solo albums, his self-titled debut in 1985 and Running The Endless Mile in 1986, both fared poorly with the critics.
