Biography
3 April 1955, East Orange, New Jersey, USA. His combination of Delta guitar patterns with New Orleans second-line rhythms gives Mooney the edge when slide guitarists are under consideration. He was 12, living in Rochester and playing guitar to Ernest Tubb songs on the radio when he first heard Son Houses records; four years later he was playing alongside House. After spending time in Arizona and California, he moved to New Orleans in 1976 and learned the citys complex rhythmic style from Professor Longhair and the Meters. He formed his band, Bluesiana, in 1983, which has since featured bass guitarists George Porter Jnr. and Glenn Fukunaga, and drummers John Vidacovich and Kerry Brown, among others. Sideways In Paradise comprised a series of acoustic duets with Jimmy Thackery recorded in Jamaica in 1984.
