US guitarist and singer-songwriter Frusciante is best known for his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, earning both commercial success and critical plaudits during two separate stints with the Los Angeles-based rock band. Despite his commitments to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and some well-documented personal problems, Frusciante has also maintained a busy schedule as a solo recording artist.

Frusciante was raised in California and after mastering the guitar at an early age, the precocious musical talent dropped out of college to devote himself to music, joining a number of LA-based bands before being recruited by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to replace their recently deceased guitarist Hillel Slovak.
