USA. From 1984, Bucchino toured extensively and also recorded on piano with singer Holly Near. His songwriting has proved to be a highly significant element of his contribution to popular music. Among Bucchinos declared musical influences are Joni Mitchell, Beatles, Simon And Garfunkel and Stevie Wonder, but he quickly found his own distinctive style. His songs are often melodically powerful while his lyrics can be intense but are interspersed with gentle and sometimes sardonic wit. A gifted songwriter and pianist, Bucchino was especially prolific from the 90s onwards. He wrote songs for the musicals The Artist At 40, Urban Myths and Lavender Girl, the latter the middle segment of the Harold Prince production, 3hree, and also for the animated film, Joseph, King Of Dreams (2000), from which Better Than I won the Video Premiere Award for Best Song.
